Blind date dating show casual dating online
Netflix diverges from the norm offering a fresh take on the romance-related reality television show “Dating Around.” The premise of the show is simple.Viewers follow along as someone goes on five blind dates; the ultimate decision at the end of the show being who they will choose to go on a second date with. The roster of talent, Netflix assures, includes real-life singles and (hopefully) soon-to-be couples, of diverse backgrounds and ages. Some particularly painful moments from the preview include a very-straight sounding dude asking a woman if she "[likes] it big" to which she responds, "Oh my god, you're a headache." As well as when a woman tells her date she's never done drugs and he replies, "Oh yeah, I love them." Hopefully, the other four dates each of these individuals went on were a bit less cringe-worthy. Judging from the trailer, it's definitely not the wall of blondes often boasted by other dating shows. When first introduced to the person of interest of each episode, there is voiceover of their friends introducing them to the audience. This is where we find the only commonality among other reality shows as the remainder of the episode does not provide us with any straight-forward exposition.“Dating Around” is interesting in the sense that viewers never get a glimpse into the thoughts of the featured singles.
While this is the first appearance of the show, it should not deter viewers as it is not an accurate representation of the episodes that follow.
Like the original, graphics including animations and speech bubbles will appear on screen as the narrator weaves in commentary and cameras follow the couple’s every move.
The original series, hosted by Lodge and distributed by NBC Universal Television, premiered in 1999 and ran for 10 seasons with a total of 1,440 episodes.
